SQL Bootcamp (at General Assembly – view schedule)

This one-day workshop will take absolute beginners through the basics of SQL to an ability to write queries with confidence.  We will use a combination of lecture and in-class exercises to ensure that students leave with a working grasp of SQL fundamentals.  You’ll build your own library of SQL code examples using a sample database.

 

Advanced SQL Bootcamp (at General Assembly – view schedule)

This one-day workshop will teach students already familiar with the basics of SQL some advanced querying techniques.  We’ll install an open source software package for connecting to a wide variety of SQL databases.  The class finishes with basic database administration commands and students will set up their own database in the cloud using Amazon Web Services.

 

Python for Data Science Bootcamp (at General Assembly – view schedule)

In this 4-day workshop you’ll learn the end-to-end data science process:

• Fundamentals of python (equivalent to the Intro to Python workshop)
• Collect data from a variety of sources (e.g., Excel, SQL, CSVs, JSON files)
• Explore and summarize data sets
• Clean and “munge” the data to prepare it for analysis
• Implement machine learning algorithms to build predictive models
• Visualize the results of your analysis

This is a very practical and hands-on workshop that has lots of class exercises. You’ll build your own library of Python scripts that can be reused after your done with the course.

 

Intro to Python (at General Assembly – view schedule)

In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of python.  The class uses a mixture of lecture and in-class exercises.  The following concepts will be covered:

• Data types
• If statements
• Lists, tuples and dictionaries
• For loops
• Importing packages
